Academic Sessions

:

There will be nine academic sessions.

 

6.

Paper Presentation

:

There will be a running session from beginning till end for presentation of papers. For this interested participants should provide information at the time of registration.

 

7.

Registration Fee

:

All participants except the members of the Steering Committee, members of the Sub-Committees, Scholars to be honoured, official media, members of Advisory Committee on MEA, official delegations nominated by other Governments , delegations from the Parliament / State Assemblies. 

 

8.

Meals

:

There will be working lunches on 22, 23 & 24 Sep.

 

9.

Interest in participation in Exhibition

:

  Please advise them to contact Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Vardha.

 

10.

Book Releases

:

There will be a permanent counter for book releases as part of the exhibition. Those interested in getting their book released must inform the Ministry of External Affairs well in advance along with a copy of the book.

 

11.

Accommodation

:

The tariff indicated in the booklet for hotels is indicative and participants while booking for hotel will be informed of the actuals.

Visas for South Africa

 

 

Visa Advisory

:

 

 

:

On Official/Diplomatic passports visas are not required upto 90 days.  Others are requested to contact the nearest South African Mission or Consulate for seeking visa well in time. 

All the interested participants for the 9th World Hindi Conference being held in Johannesburg, South Africa from 22-24 September 2012 are advised to apply for Visa for South Africa well in time as the processing of visa application may take around 3-4 weeks.

13.

Yellow Fever Vaccination

:

Johannesburg is not in yellow fever zone.  However, as your flights may transit through yellow fever zone, it is advisable that participants take a yellow fever vaccination atleast ten days before the date of travel. 

 

14.

Health Insurance

:

Excellent medical facilities are available at Johannesburg for any emergency.  However, all participants must carry adequate health insurance to cover their visit. 

 

15.

Local transport

:

 

Our Mission in Pretoria will organize transport from airport to hotel and back. 

 

16.

Tourism

:

Participants interested in tourism are requested to contact a tourist agency of their choice.  Tourist desks are available at all hotels.

 

17.

  Currency

:

Local currency is Rand and at present One dollar fetches Rand 8.11, subject to fluctuation from time to time.  Participants are also advised to carry sufficient foreign exchange with them in order to meet their expenses.  All major credit cards are accepted in South Africa.

 

18.

Major air connections from India to Johannesburg

:

South African Airline operates a direct flight from Mumbai to Johannesburg.  Other convenient connections are via Dubai [Emirates] or Addis Ababa [Ethiopian Airlines] or Nairobi [Kenyan Airline].  Participants can procure their air tickets from any agency of their choice.  For any inquiries or help, they could also contact M/s Balmer & Lawrie which are a Public Sector travel agency. 

 

19.

Weather conditions

:

Month of September will be very pleasant.  The participants would be advised to carry light woollens for early mornings and evenings. 

 

20.

Tourist attractions

:

South Africa is world known for its natural beauty and wildlife.
